Brits 'not benefiting' from Abbey Isas.
Monday 27 March 2006
Abbey believes that many people are not benefiting from the tax-free benefits afforded by Isas.
Its research suggests that although 96 per cent of British adults know that an Isa is a savings account and just over three quarters (76 per cent) are aware of their benefits, 27 million adults do not have one.
Abbey's Instant Access Isa is currently paying 4.6 per cent tax-free interest and is available until May 31st 2006.
Pak Chan, head of investments and marketing at the society, said that Abbey's Instant Access Isa funds can be withdrawn with a cash card "to enable account holders to access their money at a time that suits them through ATMs".
Abbey has also recently launched a Guaranteed Growth Plan and the Property and Stock Market plan, which are investment Isas with 100 per cent capital guarantee.
